About This Course

This course provides an introduction to the principles of EMI (Electromagnetic Interference), EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), and RFI (Radio Frequency Interference). It covers the historical background of these phenomena and how they became international concerns.

Students will learn about the sources of EMI and RFI in electronic systems, how to identify and mitigate them, and the impact they have on electronic system performance and reliability. The course also explains the differences between radiated and conducted EMI and their effects on electronic systems. Participants will learn how to measure and quantify both types of EMI, along with the compliance standards established by relevant organizations.

In addition, the course explores common sources of EMI on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and how to identify and isolate them. It emphasizes the importance of selecting appropriate components to minimize EMI and applying shielding and grounding techniques to mitigate both EMI and RFI.

Upon completion of this course, students will have a fundamental understanding of EMI, EMC, and RFI. They will be equipped to identify and mitigate sources of interference and make informed component choices to reduce EMI in their designs.
