About This Course

This comprehensive course is designed to equip professional engineers with a thorough understanding of engineering management systems, with a focus on safety and risk management. It explores the critical role that these systems play in governing engineering practices, including incident management, root cause investigation, and the use of big data and AI for incident analysis.

The course highlights the importance of proper selection of fittings and Inherently Safer Design (ISD) in eliminating or reducing hazards and risks at the design stage. It also addresses organizational motivations for change and how management systems can protect owners from risks associated with third-party engineering firms’ performance.

Emphasis is placed on the competency and training of engineers, contractors, and service providers, along with the role of external audits in verifying competence in engineering projects. Participants will gain insights into Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) and other risk management tools that reduce the likelihood of failures.

Additional topics include the history of engineering codes and management systems, an understanding of engineering regulations and varying risk appetites across jurisdictions, the key elements of a management system, and the importance of integrating all stakeholders in engineering projects.

By the end of the course, participants will have developed a comprehensive understanding of the components and applications of engineering management systems, and how they contribute to improved safety and risk management in the oil and gas industry. Join this course to deepen your expertise in engineering management systems and enhance your professional capabilities.
