Learning in the Experience Economy: Changing Roles in L&D

About This Course

We are in a time of profound change, where everything from business and lifestyle to politics and personal lives is being profoundly affected by the impact of digital disruption and transformation. As with any major paradigm shift, learning trends need to be viewed in this bigger picture context, in order to truly understand the wider disruptive forces that are changing and will continue to change the field of learning. What we will seek to provide is a session that provides practical tools and guidance on how we as L&D professionals can actually begin to implement and execute against these drivers as we move from being the controllers of context to being the curator of experiences.

Now - we not only need to adapt our learning solutions to meet the market and learner needs, we need to change our teams to support the work required to do so. The opportunities to create career-defining workplace learning experiences have never been greater: there are more devices with the capabilities to deliver immersive media experiences to more people than ever before. Yet many learners are habituated to be wary of traditional, mandatory corporate learning programs. How should we as learning leaders understand this landscape? How can we develop learning experiences which resonate with our audiences and deliver real value? What new skills do we need to be successful facilitators in the digital landscape?

In this session, we'll consider how our learning audiences now value experiences over all else, and how learning can be elevated to exceed these expectations and position employees to thrive at work. We'll share engaging examples of holistic learning programs that surpassed the expectations of a busy, discerning audience. These will help surface various strategies of how to effectively leverage marketing and communications tactics to earn the mindshare of their learners and support of business stakeholders. We'll conclude by considering how to sustain learning programs among a chronically distracted audience often resistant to change.
