About This Course

Need to conduct interviews but unsure where to begin? Want to create captivating interviews that engage audiences and listeners? Perhaps you're tasked with interviewing job candidates? Interviews are a cornerstone of business and media today, yet many are poorly executed. Most interviewers make critical mistakes that hinder the potential of their interviews.

In this course, learn how to extract valuable insights, craft compelling narratives, and differentiate yourself from the millions of interview recordings online—without needing formal journalism training. Led by an experienced journalist and writing professor, uncover common pitfalls and how to overcome them.

This course systematically guides you through the interview process, covering vital topics such as:

  • Preparation to establish credibility as an interviewer.
  • Selecting appropriate recording methods, considering how the medium impacts both you and your interviewee.
  • Techniques for managing nerves often associated with conducting interviews.
  • Using open-ended questions to elicit captivating stories and insights from interviewees.
  • Crafting coherent and engaging blog posts, newspaper articles, or magazine features from your interviews.

Additionally, learn the significance of leveraging interview recordings to cultivate an online following, essential for marketing products or services. If you're new to interviewing, discover essential information on microphones and recording software to conduct in-person and online interviews confidently.

By the course's end, you'll possess the skills and knowledge needed to conduct insightful, compelling interviews that captivate audiences and serve your objectives effectively.
