About This Course

This 6.5‐hour course focuses on the design and construction of high‐performance building envelopes. The course will analyze the building envelope as part of a whole building approach to energy efficiency and reference applicable building codes. The course will instruct on how to create and maintain critical barriers and how to design and build energy‐efficient foundation systems, fenestration systems and roofing systems.

Explore key topics including:

  • Energy efficiency and the building envelope as part of a whole-building approach
  • Relevant codes, incentives, and efficiency designations shaping modern construction
  • In-depth analysis of the four critical barrier wall systems: water, vapor, thermal, and air
  • Detailed examination of foundation systems, materials, and construction processes
  • Designing and installing efficient fenestration systems for optimal performance
  • Strategies for low-slope, steep-slope, metal panel, green, and cool roof systems
  • The imperative of sustainability in material selection, longevity, and waste reduction

Gain insights into cutting-edge materials and innovative construction practices that minimize thermal bridging, control moisture, and enhance fire resistance. Learn to integrate building systems seamlessly, ensuring long-term performance and occupant well-being. This course equips professionals with the knowledge to design and construct buildings that not only meet but exceed current energy standards, contributing to a more sustainable built environment.
