About This Course














This course emphasizes the evolving role of Professional Accountants in navigating the complexities of the modern business environment, particularly in the context of digital change, and ethical leadership.

It aims to equip professional accountants with the mindset and skills necessary to support them in their role as trusted advisors and ethical leaders, addressing not only technical competencies but also the broader challenges posed by technology, societal expectations, and the global business landscape.

Through this course, participants will develop a deeper understanding of:

  • the importance of ethical decision-making in building trust in the profession and digital trust in the organization,
  • the impact of technology on the evolving role of Professional Accountants,
  • the role of bias in decision-making and tips for mitigating bias, and
  • the importance of professional values in ensuring organizational integrity and public trust in the modern digital economy.

Participants are invited to consider an ethical decision-making framework to assist in resolving ethical challenges they may encounter in their work. Additionally, two simple models are introduced that may be applied to assist in assessing potential technology or automation use cases.

During her career, Maureen has also been active in volunteer roles as a coach and with organizations such as the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Public Sector Accounting Board, Chartered Professional Accountants Canada, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia, Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia, the Financial Management Institute, and the Chamber of Commerce, among others. She also served as a volunteer financial advisor for an NGO in Ghana, West Africa. Today, Maureen enjoys delivering relevant professional development courses to leaders and members of professional associations on current topics that supports their ongoing development and growth.
