About This Course

There are generally two different ways to keep the books — cash and accrual bases. The accounting method you choose is important because it determines when you show income and recognize expenses.

So which one is best for you and your business? That’s exactly what this course is all about! In this session, we will discuss the key differences between cash and accrual accounting. We will talk about why the cash basis is generally simpler but can be misleading. We will also discuss what you typically see on most business tax returns — and why your choice of accounting method could make a big difference in your tax liability.

If you are a new business owner who just needs some guidance at an affordable price (and you are afraid of all the stuff you see out there on the internet from so-called “industry leaders” who have never actually started a business in their entire lives), the Going Out on Your Own Series from Peters Professional Education is for you!

David Peters is a CPA, financial advisor, and licensed insurance agent. You don’t need someone who just talks to small business clients. Learn from someone who is a small business owner. Learn from someone who has started several small businesses himself. Learn from someone who has experienced the struggles and triumphs of going out on your own. Learn from Dave!
