About This Course

This course is a completely updated and enhanced version of David Trahair’s prior course: Enough Bull: How to Retire Well Without the Stock Market, Mutual Funds, or Even an Investment Advisor.

In this course, you’ll discover The Antidote: A simple six-point plan for financial freedom, which includes the safest investing strategy on earth – a 100% fixed income portfolio. The course has been expanded, however, to include many other investment options.

You’ll learn all about those options, including using a full-service investment dealer or broker, a discount broker, a robo-advisor, a fee-only financial planner and a deposit broker. You’ll also see demonstrations of actual online accounts with a discount broker, Questrade, and a robo-advisor, Wealthsimple. The course will also look at what the experts say future stock market returns are likely to be, as well as where interest rates are going so you can plan appropriately.

It will also delve into the issue of RRSPs versus the alternatives, looking at investing in equities inside and RRSP versus a regular taxable account versus a TFSA, as well as other options including real estate, reinvesting in your own business, paying off debt, and retaining profits in a corporation for later dividend distribution.

There are also six free spreadsheets in the course including the S&P TSX Total Return vs GIC Calculator to show you how well the stock market in Canada has done versus the risk free benchmark of GICs, the RRSP vs Regular vs TFSA Analyzer, the RRSP vs Pay Down Debt Calculator, the RRSP vs Retaining Profits in a Corporation Calculator, the Tax Turbo-Charged RRSP Calculator and the Money Maximizer to help you determine if you’ll have enough money to retire well.

The objective of this course is to give you the information, the tools and the confidence to take charge of your personal finance and investing strategy, whether you use an advisor or not.
